Former University of Minnesota basketball standout and NBA veteran Mychal Thompson returns for his second season as television color analyst for Timberwolves broadcasts. Teamed with Tom Hanneman, the duo will call Wolves action on Fox Sports Net and UPN29 broadcasts this season.

    During a four-year collegiate career at Minnesota (1974 - 75 through 1977 - 78), Thompson averaged 20.8 points per game. He was named All-American following his junior and senior seasons. Additionally, Thompson is the leading scorer in Gopher men's basketball history, with 1,992 points. The first overall selection in the 1978 NBA Draft, he played a total of 12 seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers. In 935 regular-season contests, Thompson averaged 13.7 PPG, 7.4 rpg and 2.3 apg. He was a member of the Lakers' World Championship teams in 1986-87 and 1987-88.

    Prior to joining the Wolves broadcast team, Thompson CO-hosted a radio show in Portland, Oregon, and worked with the Vancouver Grizzlies, Seattle Sonics and Trail Blazers as a television broadcast color analyst. Thompson also serves as Sports Ambassador for his native Bahamas.
